"NEWS” is a track that holds multiple meanings. When I started college I chose to pursue an Economics degree because I was still finding myself and was only concerned about financial stability after college. After several internships in accounting/finance and disliking my major and the corporate world, I decided to try my hand at making music. “NEWS” represents my process of investing in and finding myself, breaking social norms, and overcoming self-doubt. My process of deconstructing self imposed mental limitations has been extremely difficult, which is why “NEWS” is loud, bold, and full of energy. The hook repeats “breaking the rules” and represents defining myself outside of stereotypes, expectations, and societal norms. The hook also plays into the current social discussion and reality of police shooting unarmed black people.
